If you™™re considering this GE 18™ dishwasher (or any GE appliance, honestly) do yourself a favor and walk away. No™¦RUN away. I purchased this 18™ dishwasher model earlier this year. It worked fine for about eight months, and then out of nowhere developed a persistent malfunction: the cycle would run past its time, add extra rinses, stall with a full tub of water, and display incorrect or even backward-jumping times. It couldn™™t complete a cycle on its own---I™™d have to manually cancel the cycle to shut the washer down.
What followed was nearly three months of service calls---four separate visits---during which multiple parts, including all computer boards, were replaced. Not one repair improved the problem in the slightest. Finally, GE declared it ™unrepairable.™ Because it was still under warranty, they sent me a replacement unit.
The brand-new dishwasher was delivered on November 15 and displayed the exact same malfunction as soon as it was installed. That™™s when I learned the real issue: this isn™™t just one bad dishwasher. It™™s a bad design.
And then came the service experience. GE™™s official appliance repair division is named Bodewell, and dealing with them has been worse than dealing with the broken dishwasher itself. After I reported that the replacement unit was also defective, Bodewell told me a technician would need to verify it before they could do anything further. Fair enough---until they cancelled and rescheduled my service appointments THREE separate times, sometimes without even notifying me in advance. Each cancellation came with the same excuse: "no technicians available." Weeks have now gone by, and I can™™t get anyone here to inspect this dishwasher. It™™s obvious that GE has no intention of resolving this case---instead, they seem to be hoping to wear me down with constant service cancellations until I simply give up and live with a defective machine.
At this point, the only meaningful remedy would be a full refund of my cost for the original washer. But GE is refusing to take financial responsibility for their shoddy products. So, I™™m stuck with this hunk of junk and trapped in a crazy limbo of infinitely rescheduled service appointments that no one ever will ever show up for. I strongly recommend avoiding GE dishwashers---and frankly, all GE appliances---unless you™™re prepared for endless problems and virtually no support. This has been the single worst appliance ownership and customer service experience I™™ve ever had.

Moved into a smaller home and was worried that an 18" dishwasher would be too tiny...boy was I proven wrong! This held all the dishes for one day dirtied by 2 adults (pots and pans too). And it's so quiet, could not hear it across the (small) room and did not have to turn up the volume on the tv. I love this dishwasher.

This is a very quiet D/W cleans well and is nice looking.
Installation was easy but has limited room to access water connection.
Overall a great addition to the kitchen in a tight area.

The dishwasher itself is a good unit. Very quiet and cleans excellent. However, lets talk about the wasted space. The top rack has 2 pieces of plastic that I guess you put utensils in. It takes way from the space for glasses. Thankfully someone had the common sense to make them removable. Now the bottom rack. The layout is workable, but the way it was manufactured there is very little support for anything other than plates and a couple bowls. There's no way to keep but a few glasses from falling over. Also plates over 10.5" won't fit. Glasses and cups are washed more frequently than plates once the top is full you're pretty much out of luck to wash any more glasses or cups in this dishwasher. And the cover on the silverware rack is a good "concept" again... good thing it's removable. Think twice, I wish I had.

The main problem : detergent compartment was not amptied while machine was functioning for 2,5 hours. Had 7 attempts to try allwashing cycles with the new capsules of recommended detergent. Next: unfortunately No Dry option for light nor Autosense cycles. This item doesn™™t deserve that high price. Not useful In the rental apartments Can send pictures showing no dissolved detergent sitting on the bottom of main wash compartment

My previous 18™ GE dishwasher was easy to load and accepted all my daily dishes and flatware and mugs, etc.
This one is nearly impossible to load and only accommodates half of my dailies dishes and flatware, mugs, etc. the racks are so poorly designed. I wish I could have viewed this 18™ at a dealer before buying. What kind of idiot designed these racks? Wish my old 20 year old 18™ GE hadn™™t bit the dust. BTW, the kick plate for the bottom was poorly powder coated.

We love the dish washer it is so quiet a lot of times I have put my hand on the door to be sure it is actually on and it cleans so well we have not used a anything but light wash .Standing next to it talking to my son he had to put his hand on it also to prove it was on hw was very impressed too

After receiving my dishwasher, I unpacked it and thought to myself this little dishwasher will not be able to get the job done. After some serious deliberation I decided to keep the dishwasher and install it myself. I read through the directions and followed them step for step, the directions were clear and easy to understand. Once installation was done I put a load of dishes in and ran the dishwasher with no problems. This unit is extremely quite and gets all of my dishes extraordinarily clean, turns out it was a great decision to keep this dishwasher. I can honestly say I could not be more pleased

Pros: looks nice and is quiet. Cons: sanitize cycle is 162 minutes long. upper rack seldom engages the water transfer connection on back wall of washer properly and wont allow door to fully close, requires shaking the rack until alignment occurs. Utensil basket is too short allowing silverware to tilt sideways beyond the basket. Contents never completly dry even if door is opened following was cycle as instructed.
